1. BEAM EXCAVATION
In order to pour the foundation beam concrete, foundations are excavated by use of construction equipments. Then, the earth is removed from the site.
2. CONSTRUCTION OF CONCRETE FOUNDATION BEAMS
For pouring the beam concrete with 60 cm x 60 cm dimensions, double sided wooden formwork is prepared, and two lower, four upper Ø14 iron reinforcement bars are placed into the forms. Then, Ø8 diameter stirrups are formed with intervals of 25 cm. Before the concrete is poured, anchorage plates of 10 mm thickness are placed on the beam, on which support trusses will be installed. These plates will be fixed on the concrete by use of special bolts. Foundation beam construction is finished when BS25 concrete is poured into the forms.
3. CRUSHED STONE LAYING AND COMPACTING
After the concrete needed for the astro pitch is completed, grade 4 crushed stone is laid on the ground of the pitch at height of 15 cm by use of a gritter. Afterwards, the ground is compacted by a roller of suitable weight. Then, grade 1 crushed stone is laid at height of 10 cm on the compacted layer of crushed stone. When the ground is leveled, it is ready for laying the turf.
4. STEEL CONSTRUCTION INSTALLATION FOR CLOSED PITCHES
Metal structures and other materials (tarpaulin, lightening, net, wire mesh, artificial turf) are prepared for the closed astro pitch whose design was made before. Body trusses are rounded (between 12 and 15 meters based on the width of the pitch). Ø42x3 mm pipes are diagonally mounted into the support pillar trusses which are made of Ø89x3 mm pipes. 3 rows of wind joints are mounted on the long side of the construction by being welded on the Ø42x3mm pipe. Ø27x3mm crosswise and diagonal joints are fixed by welding between the body trusses made of Ø76x3mm pipes. This structure and support pillar trusses are jointed on the ground. Jointed trusses are lifted by use of a crane and placed on the 10 mm metal sheet which was prepared in advance. Purlins are welded on the lifted trusses by use of Ø42x3mm pipes at intervals of 70 cm. These purlins the connection between the trusses and prevent the tarpaulin from hanging loose. Tarpaulin fixing pipes are mounted at intervals of 6 meters. 3 rows of wind joints are mounted on the long side of the construction by being welded on the Ø42x3mm pipe. Full length ventilation channel is established on the top of the tarpaulin. A full length walking path is mounted over the middle line of the pitch for the projectors. Water sprinklers can be also installed on the path for cooling the players off at hot weathers. Entrance gate is fixed to the construction. Suitable goal posts and nets are installed. If necessary, a closed tribune can be placed nearby the pitch. Lastly, metal construction is painted with an industrial paint of desired color.
5. ENCLOSING WITH WIRE MESH AND NET
Support trusses are enclosed with 3.5 mm thickness, PVC coated, hot-dip galvanized wire mesh, whose loop distance is 50x50 mm. Perimeter of the pitch is surrounded with a steel cord. Beginning from the top of the mesh cord, sides of the pitch are fully enclosed with grade 77 net made of rip cord with a loop distance of 15x15cm. Back-goal area is covered with double layer grade 77 net made of rip cord with a loop distance of 12x12cm.
6. LIGHTENING SYSTEM
400W Metal Halide projectors are installed on the metal construction, on both sides of the walking path which is 12 m high over the ground of the pitch. Wiring and grounding works for the lightening system are completed and the connection to the power panel is made. All materials installed on the system are in compliance with TSE standards.
7. COVERING THE METAL CONSTRUCTION WITH TARPAULIN
Sides of the pitch are enclosed through bridge system by use of a 1,100 Dtex, 650 g/m2 density, special PVC lacquered tarpaulin which is resistant to cold and hot weather and warranted for a period of 2 years for workmanship faults. 5 mm tying cord and safety belt are also attached on the structure. In order to easily open the sides of the pitch at hot weathers, all sides are equipped with velcro fasteners or zippers.
INSTALLATION OF THE ARTIFICIAL TURF ON THE GROUND
- Geotextile pad is laid on compacted and leveled grade one crushed stone after being wetted in order to protect the turf from abrasive effects of the crushed stone.
- Artificial turf is laid on the pad. Sections of the turf are aligned and adhered on ach other by polyurethane based, double component adhesive by use of a helmetine cloth.
- After the lines of the pitch are jointed, dried and packaged silica sand is laid on the ground at height of 25 mm and density of 30 kg/m2 by use of a sand spreader. The ground is brushed by a machine in order to obtain homogenous distribution of the sand on the pitch.
- After sand application, rubber granules are laid in the same way with a density of 9 kg/m2.
